Make:able Finalist Announcement

Today we're delighted to announce the finalists of the make:able challenge! As a quick recap, make:able began in September 2020 as part of a collaboration between PrintLab, Autodesk and partners. The brief was to 'design and make a product or prototype that improves the day-to-day life of someone who struggles with mobility in their hands'. We were extremely humbled by the interest, with over 17,000 students in 70+ countries registering! With Covid disruptions, the number of entries was significantly less but we still received a whole range of amazing submissions, which we are excited to share with you.

13th April 2021 Make:able

To begin the judging process, Team PrintLab have shortlisted 3-5 finalist entries for each category and age group. Throughout next week, an expert panel of judges will be voting for their favourite solutions from each category before the votes are counted and announced on 1st May 2021. Details of the judging panel will be released in a separate post but you can expect an incredible group of experts from the 3D printing, medical and education sectors.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the finalists for each category. Please note that some submissions are entered into multiple categories and we have adjusted the age groups from under 13 and 13-18 to under 14 and 14-18 to even out the number of submissions we received in both groups. You’ll also notice that we have only shown small thumbnail images of the entries but in due course, we’ll be sharing their full portfolios so you can view their entire design process and incredible stories.
