Welcome to PrintLab’s Homeware Design Challenge, where we are giving you the opportunity to design a real retail product for the ōH Foundation store, located in the historic city of Chester in the UK. If your solution is chosen by the ōH Foundation, we’ll work with you to make any necessary refinements and additions before manufacturing and displaying the homeware pieces in the store for a limited period of time – with 80% of sales revenue going directly to you. In order to for your product to be considered for manufacturing and retail at ōH, you are required to submit the following as a minimum, using the online form on the challenge platform:

Who can enter the challenge? – Anyone with an active subscription to PrintLab, or anyone who is part of an organisation/school who has a PrintLab subscription.
Is there a deadline for the challenge? – The challenge will remain open for the foreseeable future with no set deadline.
How will you select designs to take forward? – Submissions will be shared with the ōH Foundation as they come in. If the team at ōH see potential in your submission, we will reach out to inform you by email. We’ll then collaborate to make any necessary refinements and additions before manufacturing and displaying the homeware pieces in the store.
How does the commission work? – Homeware pieces will be displayed and sold for an agreed amount of time. At the end of the agreed term, we will share the sales data with you and wire transfer 80% of total revenue. Please note that if students are under the age of 18, the commission will go to their school, teacher, or parent.
Will you own my design? – All rights to the design will remain that of the designer.

Our teaching methodology is focused around creative freedom. By using various research, design and evaluation methods, you'll create a homeware product that's completely unique!
With our education licenses, you can generate a share link to give your students access to the challenge learning platform. Each section of the platform also has a teacher instructions tab, which provides you with step-by-step lesson plan instructions, curriculum alignment resources and an assessment rubric.
