Course Mini Courses

The PrintLab Certification Program is a comprehensive, tiered learning pathway that equips you with essential skills and recognised credentials in 3D CAD, 3D printing, and design innovation. Although optional, we recommend using the program to guide your journey through PrintLab, while earning certifications along the way! Before we dive into the details of the certification program, below are two short overview videos of the PrintLab learning platform. One video is for educators, and the other is for personal users.

And now on to the certification program. There are 2 versions of the program – one for educators and one for designers (including students). Both versions offer three stages, each building your expertise.

Upon completing each level, you’ll earn a formal certificate and badge image, which can be used as a visual marker in places like your email signature or within social media posts. These certifications help you showcase your skills to peers, employers, educational institutions, and the broader community. The program is flexible, self-paced, and empowers you to acquire industry-relevant skills and apply them directly to real-world projects.

*Please note that certification applications are only accepted from users with an active PrintLab subscription and not free trial users.

The Student Certification program is very similar to the Educator Certification, whereby students go through a 3-tiered learning pathway that equips them with essential skills and recognised credentials in 3D CAD, 3D printing, and design innovation.

*Please note that with PrintLab’s Teacher License, there is a limit of certifying 35 students per year. With PrintLab’s Site License, you can certify an unlimited number of students from within your school/organisation.

PrintLab Certified Maker, Teacher and Facilitator badges under the title 'Educator Certification'.
PrintLab Certified Maker, Designer and Innovator badges under the title 'Student Certification'.

The key similarities and differences between the educator and student certifications are as follows:

        • The Level 1 Maker Certification is identical. Students must also complete 4 mini courses and submit their certificates to obtain the certification.
        • The student equivalent of the Level 2 Teacher Certification is the Level 2 Designer Certification. Whereas teachers must submit an example student portfolio, students must submit their own portfolio.
        • The student equivalent of the Level 3 Facilitator Certification is the Level 3 Innovator Certification. Whereas teachers must submit an example submission, students must submit their own.

With a PrintLab subscription, you can guide students through the certification process. Further guidance is provided upon signing up to PrintLab.
