What 3D Printers are Schools Using in 2024
As part of a recent survey, we asked 29 PrintLab Pioneer teachers what 3D printers they have at their school in 2024. Not only that, but we asked them what the 3 most important factors are that influenced their selections. As you’ll see from the below, the results are very mixed in terms of brands, models and quantities. Having said that, the 6 most popular brands, in no particular order, were UltiMaker (including the MakerBot series), Flashforge, Creality, Bambu Lab, Dremel and Prusa Research.
Another thing we noticed is that several schools are investing in print farms with 10+ machines. One school even has a farm of over 30 printers! It’s fantastic to see the growth of 3D printing in education and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our pioneer network for giving up their time to collaborate on this blog, as well as many others.

As mentioned earlier, we also asked each teacher about the 3 most important factors are that influenced their printer selections. The table below shows the top 6 factors that were mentioned. We allocated 3 points to their 1st choice, 2 points to their 2nd choice, and 1 point for their 3rd choice.
